Re: Any spearfishing around within Gheenoe range?
Y'all remember that boy that was chomped on by the gator a few years back while spearing mullet? I think it was around Keaton beach. Man,I'd be really careful taking a genoe that far. If you start taking waves over the bow( super easy to do), you will be in trouble. It doesn't sound very safe, espe...

Re: Dropping crab pots
Nice BBB!!
Left one out overnight last weekend. I think the location I selected was poor. Will try it again this weekend.

Panacea July 12 & 13, 2014
Saturday: Launched around 10:00 out of Bottoms Rd and headed north of Piney toward Oyster Cove. Fished the grass flats for awhile using live shrimp. Nothing but short specks. Moved just off one the oyster bar near the Cove to hit the incoming. Caught a short red on shrimp and my buddy caught a 19&qu...

Re: Any spearfishing around within Gheenoe range?
I was hoping for opportunities other than mullet. Was curious if there was any good structure close to inshore range. I'll stick to pole fishing for now, especially after this weekend seeing the size of the sharks around here

Any spearfishing around within Gheenoe range?
I live in Tally and have a 15'6" Classic Gheenoe. Been diving since I was a teenager and moved to FL for cave diving. I've been diving caves since here exclusively but have an OW set up. As for spear, I only have a three-prong pole spear that I brought from the PAC NW. Are there any areas to sp...

Dropping crab pots
I've been dropping a crab pot every time I fish (Dickerson and Wakulla on way to St. Marks) and have been using bait ranging from fish to chicken. The pot usually sits five to six hours, being dropped in the morning and have yet to net a single blue crab. Clearly I'm doing something wrong. I don't w...

Re: Shell Point 7/4-6
Thanks for the report. I caught pins for the first time this Sunday and was wondering if they were very good trout bait. Threw a couple out under a popper but only caught a small shark. Switched back to shrimp as I was doing pretty well with them.

Re: Ecofina -- Thursday 19 June
Yes, I launched out of the park. It can get a little tricky on a low tide, just can't get in a hurry. It helps to look your fishing areas over during those low tides to determine where the oyster bars are and how the water runs around them -- for fishing AND navigational purposes!! Cool, thanks for...

Re: Ecofina -- Thursday 19 June
Nice report! Forgive my ignorance, but did you launch out of Ecofina River State Park? Recently picked up a Gheenoe Classic and getting to know the area.
