Any of these diving lures with some orange on the belly seem to be good for trolling in the rivers this time of year

One slot, one not
Fished Friday in the rivers. Lots of trout hanging in clumps at channel's edge, and I caught a slot red (in the net). Trolled on the way back and caught this 32 inch bad boy (released). https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20221126/0bbc031470b2db501a6936ca6a61d0d3.jpg https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20...

Re: Sidescan on the flats
Ok, that's what I've been doing. Thought maybe I was missing something.

Sidescan on the flats
Went out Sunday and caught a few trout in 4-5 feet, water temp 74 deg, very clear water on the east flats. Fish seemed scattered and it made me wonder - why don't I ever see trout on my sidescan on the flats when I'm slow trolling or looking for a new spot?

Re: St Marks Flats Water Clarity
Strong tea today. Lots of short trout hanging out on the edges of 3-4 foot shoals surrounded by deeper water. Can't tell you where the big ones are, cuz I didn't find them

From calm to not calm in 20 minutes
Got sporty out there today. Launched out of Carrabelle before dawn, put plenty of pinfish in the boat before heading offshore. Started out fairly calm, but 1-2 foot chop turned into 4-6 ft cresting waves in less than half an hour. Really tested the old Wahoo. Glad to be back on shore. Sent from my S...

Re: The trout seem to have worms right now
Pretty common. Extra protein, not harmful except the ick factor.

Variety pack
Went to the flats east of St Marks to catch some pinfish, and of course you have to put a line out - caught some shorts and this one trout was good size. 6 foot deep near the edge of a shallower shoal on a live pinfish & cork. Offshore it was a day of fish too short to keep. 7-8 grouper all 16-1...

Re: Fishing the wind
I used to fish out of a 12 foot wooden jon boat I built, so I feel ya. One option is to launch at the lighthouse, turn right coming out of the canal and fish the bars or go up the East river and the creeks it connects to.
Good luck!

Re: What am I doing wrong
Water was super-clear and 70 degrees on the flats by the rock garden. I tried a few spots in the river, a while drifting the flats, and then it was so calm I felt compelled to hit some nearshore reefs to see if the sheepshead were spawning yet. Saw lots of dolphin playing at several spots, but I did...

Re: Fog
It was foggy offshore until almost 4 pm. Can't say I went at fast idle, but I throttled back to a speed where I wasn't outrunning my visibility. PS: I think grouper like the fog [emoji41] https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20211206/e62f1f851754221cb89d5d6030b4ed0a.jpg Sent from my SM-G955U using Tapat...

Re: Trolling strategies
Thanks for all the advice. Didn't lose any on the trolling lures today, 1 keeper and some shorts. The big one in the picture came drifting live bottom in 45 feet with 2 sardines on one big circle hook. https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20211205/b75a4d34382d139d2ed5487b683a7c47.jpg Sent from my SM-G95...

Re: Winter pinfish?
Gotcha, I did that the other day. They're good if you use them right away, not as hardy as pinfish in the livewell
