Re: St Mark's 8/5-6
I've never eaten at cooter stew, I was going to eat there for lunch but they didn't look open, in fact last time I was down they didn't look open. They're closed wednesday but open otherwise. He's not lying about that burger either. VERY good and living in Tallahassee there's tons of good burger jo...

Re: St. Marks 7/28
Took the canoe down to St. Marks for a paddle fishing trip. First time I've taken the canoe into the salt to fish. Launched from the Lighthouse at 6:45 and headed to the oyster bars and grass lines in the East River looking for redfish. Got some bites, caught some ladyfish, and saw one of the bigge...

Re: Carpet in a G3 Boat
Loving all these deck alternatives. Sea Deck quoted me two grand to do the skiff w/ install. Just more than I want to pay for foam, but these alternatives are right up my alley. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk The alternatives are nice, but make no mistake, Seadek is the highest quality. There i...

Re: Carpet in a G3 Boat
You should really consider EVA foam decking.. It's basically DIY seadek, peel and stick(a strong stick too) and it's incredibly cheap for what it is. I did my big boat for around $250, i've had it for a couple years(boat sits 24/7 in the sun and its held up really well. https://i.imgur.com/SH0ESbVl....

Re: Registering a kayak W/O a bill of sale
Almost positive that you don't need to register a vessel for an electric trolling motor. I believe that it has to be over 5hp and gas before a need to register. It actually does need to be registered if it has any sort of motor.. Not sure how that's done with kayaks and i'd be shocked if it was enf...

Re: Tarpon Bait
Popular bait down south is hardhead catfish tails. Sounded crazy to me but man does it work.
I had a 100+ lb one hit a little gulp shrimp about 10 yards from the boat. Spit the hook(thank god) but it was a top 3 memory for me.

Went out in the big boat and hung out up the wakulla. Glad I had a big cabin because it rained nonstop from 11-4.

Re: Wakulla River questions and misc reports
I'm glad it's there but I think it's the only case in the US where a fence is across a navigable river. Good outcome but any pretense that he won because he was right should be ignored.. He won because he was powerful. Also if you get the chance to paddle from the 98 bridge to natural bridge you'd b...

Re: Wakulla River questions and misc reports
They sued to have it removed, not whether or not it was ok to cross or not. They said it wasn’t navigable above the fence. Yeah right lol but I do like the fence there. It keeps the same type of people out who ruined the Wacissa. If that fence wasn’t there people would be in that spring nonstop. Dy...

Re: Wakulla River questions and misc reports
That body of water is one of the only navigable waterways in the country that has a fence across it. Was a huge scandal and the people sued and lost in the 70's I think.
It's only legal because it's been there and people accept it.

Re: Tallahassee shore fishinng
Fresh water fishing. If you have a truck or SUV(don't need 4x4) then use google earth to find lakes in the Apalachicola National Forest. They tend to dry up every 5-10 years before refilling so don't expect a 10lb bass but they are loaded. Many of the lakes deeper in the forest you can simply drive ...

Key West started no wood construction around 1994 FWIW. They weren't always wood free.redcodefsu wrote:When I was shopping for boats the biggest difference between the Key West and Key Largo was that the Largo has wooden parts, the Key West does not.
