Re: White Vinegar
A few years back when I had my two oceanpro's I had the drives taken off to have them serviced, the mechanic told me i should descale the engines while they were off. we used an aerator pump in the bottom of a five gallon bucket with a hose hooked to the water pic up pipe and a return hose hooked t...

Re: White Vinegar
Are you spraying everything and letting it sit before washing with soap and water? Or what's your procedure? I starting using a chamois after rinsing to remove the water spots. So much calcium in the water down in St. Marks. The little extra time it takes to wipe it down saves elbow grease and rubb...

Re: White Vinegar
Been using white vinegar for years to spray down the boat and trailer. Use it to flush the engine as well, and mixed with dish soap to degrease the bilge.

Re: Dicks Sporting Goods
Looks like the Dick's boycotters are going to have to stop shopping at Walmart now too. That’s what I thought, but where is the “outrage”? None of the Dicks haters are saying a word Maybe its because we already don't buy sporting goods from Walmart..... But that's not the point... now the Dick's bo...

Re: Does Fishing Have A Future? WSJ article
Simpler answer might be that a previous generation left the current one(s) in a precarious position that doesn't allow for as many free recreational days in a year. That's been observed in myriad industries over the past 15 years. Younger people are having to work more days out of the year in order ...

Re: Apalachee Bay- Aug 4th
Great post, big nurse shark! I suspect the gar you saw were longnose gar, not alligator gar. Alligator Gar's native range never included this far east (https://databasin.org/datasets/74269f4a4b3942929cc0e7e2413c9d8e). Data they used for that chart must not be super accurate, as we used to catch all...

Re: Boat / Marine Electrical Work
Looks great. Having the right tools (wire stripper, heat gun for shrink tubing, clamp for quick connects, marine bus, proper terminal ends, etc) makes the job relaxing for me. I enjoy rewiring stuff. Is that weird? That's how I feel, now . Ended up with a bunch of new tools also with all the cash s...

Re: Favorite knots
I don't think I've used a knot other than a Uni for fishing in 10+ years. Just so easy, even in crappy conditions, and a Uni-to-Uni takes care of all of the edge cases.
It's the swiss army knot!

Re: Boat / Marine Electrical Work
Congrats on the rewire! Like you, my console had been a disaster since I bought the boat two years ago, and I had absolutely zero electrical experience or know-how to tackle myself. By the looks of it, my project was about 2-3 times worse than your pictures. But after talking to a couple of guys onl...

Re: Scalloping......
Growing up harvesting them in Hawaii we didn't bother with ones much smaller than your fist. But there were hundreds to pick from and no regulations. Since you're familiar with uni, a typical urchin has about 2-3 nigiri-style servings in it. They each have five edible "lobes" inside of var...

Re: Scalloping......
More than a bay scallop, but you also don't eat them like you would a bay scallop. A typical portion size would only be a couple of ounces. It's an acquired taste/texture. If you don't like sushi, you won't like uni. If you're OK with foie gras, salmon eggs, or even oysters, you should like it. It's...

Re: Looking for a ride for red snapper
Sounds great, appreciate it! Good luck with the repairs, hopefully they won't have you off the water for too long... What're you fishing out of? Where do you typically launch, from Shield's?
