Re: ISO used bay/bass boat
There ain't no such thing as a bass/bay boat. I have a bay boat and it would suck at bass fishing. My buddy had a bass boat and it sucked at flats fishing. That and no price range make it hard to help. I would have to disagree. I have an Intracoastal model triton and have caught limits of trout/red...

4" white gulp shrimp/jighead/cajun thunder(i'm lazy)
Gold spoon(searching)
Just about any topwater plug(excitement)
Being that i'm a pretty lazy fisherman I tend to go with number 1.

Re: ISO used bay/bass boat
You'll probably want to broaden your search and craigslist allows you to search different markets(Include nearby areas/check boxes). I wouldn't bother with a bass boat and prefer a self bailing center console with a trolling motor/power pole over a bass boat unless you really need to run 70mph. The ...

Re: Smooth Puffers
Is there any concern in handling them? I'm not interested in eating them but the last 2 I caught were handled with care because i'm not familiar with them.
They aren't a invasive/non-native like lionfish and migrate into our waters often.

Re: West Flats PSA for Windy Days
Absolutely true Chris, the east flats can get real skinny quickly on those days. The right wind and tide combo will reveal so many rocks, many seemingly random, East of the lighthouse in areas that you thought were just flats. Will make you think twice of haulin ass through some areas. Highly sugge...

Re: West Flats PSA for Windy Days
A stiff north wind and low tide will turn the st marks flats into a grassland.. A south wind will push a ton of water into the rivers and up creeks too.

To start out fish for other stuff and have a rod rigged to toss at a cobia. You may get frustrated otherwise.

Could be a smooth pufferfish that didn't bloat himself out.

Re: Smooth Puffers
I know a guy who actually targets them. He says they're safe and are his favorite fish to eat and the toxic variety are in the tropics and south Florida. I'm not trying them. The way my luck runs, I'd catch a toxic south Florida puffer who made a wrong turn around Tampa. :-D 20180406-140535.jpg You...

Re: Ideal fishing conditions for Apalachee Bay
If you want to learn the answers to those questions quickly then spend a little money and hire a guide. I'm a lazy fisherman so I just go about 1 mile from the lighthouse and work east with a popping cork and gulp on a jighead 80% of the time. You won't catch many reds this way and mostly trout but ...

CS: This site will be diminished without you contributing. Larry That's a little much now isn't it? So here's my take -- act like you would in person if meeting the person face to face the first time. I've had my own disagreements with a member or two followed-up by in-person meetings where I found...

Re: launches open
The ramps up the wakulla and St Marks river are open and the one at 98 and st marks river is typically the least crowded(for now). The Wakulla ramp @ 98 can be a nightmare on the weekend though but there's plenty of parking. Just mentioning these if you run into a busy situation you want to avoid. I...
