Re: Scallops
Same ol' 15' Lowe aluminum jonboat with Yami 25 smoker. Banshee face painted on front as in pic to the left. One thing I like about using it for scalloping is being able to pull it along as I swim, by holding the anchor and moving along. When I see a lot of scallops I just drop the anchor and do a r...

Yeah bman that's it. It was there Saturday (two days ago) but wasn't there last Saturday. Who knows maybe it's already been knocked down, LOL.bman wrote:Are you talking about the one right out from the lighthouse channel?

New danger sign where the sunken barge is in St. Mark's chan
I've often wondered how many people hit those steel posts right off the lighthouse. They're exposed at low tide but just under water at mid and high tide in a fairly well traveled area. Glad to see it.

Went again this morning, same thing. The four of us got our 8 gallons in less than an hour. Beautiful day.

I think those are the same regulations as Lake Jackson (Leon County) as last year.

Re: Scallops
I've known of the Paige-Ladson site since the 90's, very cool site. The deeper parts of the Aucilla is well known for Paleo stuff generally. Lots of fossils in both the Aucilla & St. Marks. Many a mastodon & mammoth bone has been found in the St. Marks, more than a few with cut marks where t...

Re: Scallops
Went out from the fort yesterday early morning with the boys (earlier than necessary to avoid the crush and drama at the ramp), headed east to my previously reconned GPS'd scallop hotspot, anchored & hung out for a while eating some breakfast and letting the tide get lower & the sun get high...

Re: Scallops
It looks like there's a lot, seen good numbers of them last few months fishing out of St. Marks. At least when you can actually see the bottom between all the sharks that is ... Seriously it looks like this ought to be a good year. Unless all this rain messes them up. Not sure if that would affect t...

Re: What's with all this stinkin' wind?
They'll have to find it first. I have some good hiding spots in my boat.

Re: Recent Lake Jackson Bass Fishing trips?
I went a couple weeks ago, two days on a row, late afternoon to evening then the next morning, hit all my usual top producing spots using my usual top producing lures/baits/plastics, and for the first time in a long time, I did no catch a single bass and had only ONE hit, that on a topwater frog. No...

What's with all this stinkin' wind?
Ain't it supposed to be calm by the middle of June? Too rough to fish but not too windy to tinker with my jonboat. A couple of days ago I went ahead & painted all upper surfaces with flat white paint. That OD green gets as hot as a skillet in the summer sun. Hopefully this will eliminate that is...

Re: Where are the trout biting? (St. Marks)
Went again late afternoon to sunset Thursday, tide as low as I've ever seen it. I swear it was 2-3 feet at the stake line! Trout bite was slower than I've seen it since late May. Getting hot I guess. Only managed two keepers. Several ladyfish & a few short BSB's too. Fairly windy. Nice to be out...

Re: Where are the trout biting? (St. Marks)
I should add that if you're not getting at least small trout on at least one out of every 5 casts, move a little, and try it. Last time I went (this past Monday) I was getting big keepers in 2-3 feet not far at all east of the lighthouse, hardly any shorts.
