Re: 13th of June, Bottoms Rd.
Nice catch "Can'tCatchAnything".....you certainly caught a nice mess in a tuff year. If you don't mind me asking, how much weight were you using with that texas? I seen a guy post on here lat year that wore out the trout also on a texas rig, but with cut pins instead of fishbites.

Trolling for grouper
I will be down at Panacea Easter weekend and if weather and seas permitting I plan to try some trolling for Gags in state waters. My questions are, what is the best set-up for trolling. I was thinking 50# braid with a 80# fluorocarbon leader. Also, do you think it best to tie the leader to the main ...

Offshore charters out of Panacea?
Does anyone have any info on the offshore charter boat that goes out of Tide creek marina off Mashes Sands road (behind Angelo's). I've seen that boat unload some spectacular catches on a couple occasions but never got the captain's or the boats name. Any info would be appreciated....thinking about ...

Panacea trip report 10/9 & 10/10
Headed out of Mashes Sands Thursday morning at daybreak to a near shore hump looking for trout. At 11:00 had only two keepers in the box and a few shorts to show. Went to plan “B”, caught some pins and headed out to Barge 24 area. Located some good bottom but nothing much to show….no kings….no cobes...

? about Grouper regs
Will be fishing in Panacea this weekend and just need to confirm the reg’s on grouper. I understand that red grouper season is closed in state and fed waters and gag is closed in state waters in the big bend but still open in fed waters correct? Also are the kings and cobia still around?

Re: Need help deciphering Reefcast
The red line on the wave chart is interval (period) between waves. Slow rollers (long interval) vs stacked waves (short interval). I don't see any gold dots. When you choose the plot mode "Reefcast with extra wave info" it plots the graph with the gold dots that representative additional ...

Need help deciphering Reefcast
I’m planning a trip down to Panacea this Friday and Saturday to fish some of the nearshore reefs so I checked the seas forecast for those days and the NWS forecast is for “seas 1’ or less”. I also picked a point off Panacea and got a Reefcast forecast as well which seems to correspond with the NWS f...

Pins at Lanark
Headed to Lanark this weekend. I’ve never fished out of there…..are the pins abundant there? Are they concentrated more in certain spots?

Which area has better fishing?
Me and a friend have the opportunity to fish in the Panacea area about 3 to 4 times a year. We have become somewhat familiar with the area and we usually fish out of Mashes Sands and fish the bay or either Rock Landing Marina and fish the Oyster Bay and Shell Point areas. We mainly target inshore bu...

Re: grouper?
Thanks guys for all the info. Well it looks like I’m being steered over to the Carrabelle area. I’m not familiar at all with that area….i’ve never been there. So just looking at the map the first question that comes to mind is where would be the best place to launch my boat? I would be coming from P...

Re: grouper?
Anyone? Anyone? So my question is, what is the temp range that triggers their movements and what are the months of the year that you have a reasonable opportunity to catch a grouper in 25’ to 35’?

Re: grouper?
That raises a question for me. i see from a post yesterday that some nice grouper were caught as shallow as 25' and other in 35' to 45'. It is my understanding that the grouper season in state waters was moved up three months in the big bend counties to give the average Joe recreational fisherman wi...

Key West Gauges
I just bought a 2004 Key West 1720. My tack gauge and fuel gauge does not work. Also there is some moisture behind the gauge lens and some mildew that I would like to clean. Does anyone know how to remove the gauge lens? Also, if I can't get the gauges to working and have to replace, how do I remove...
