Re: NFGFC 2023
Kudos to you guys for the extra effort to incorporate photo release into the tournament.   I will put my money where my mouth was and enter some of the "out West" tournaments where my outboard skeg will be safe. ;-) All artificial is a big step too. That put's a...

Flyrod you might want to ditch that Craigslist link for an actual ad on here. Most folks believe Craigslist is 100% spammers and they are probably right. I'll bet you can sell that unit on here if you give the details.

Re: Sidescan on the flats
I believe you would be better served using your eyes than side scan.
Noticing a weedline, current break, color change, bait scattering, birds diving, and or all of the above will lead you to the fish.

Re: Keaton this past weekend?
I'm hearing scallop season was mostly a bust at St. Marks, so it may not be good at Keaton either. Lots of spring rain seem to have an adverse effect on the season.

Re: T-Top vs. Bimini
Tops are like most boat accessories, trolling motor, power pole, etc. It depends on how you use the boat most of the time. A 19' boat is probably the minimum size for a T-top. It will impact your fishing if you have 3 anglers who like to cast and retrieve. It does act like a sail so drifting and wor...

Re: Tournament Question: Seeking Input
Showboat in the tournaments I've been around the big prize was for total inches caught, not the biggest fish. So your honey holes of 26.999999" Reds is still good. lol
The fish do have to meet a certain minimum size, just no maximum size limit.

Re: Tournament Question: Seeking Input
No one can tell you you can't keep a legal fish within your legal limit for the area you are fishing. So you can take a picture for the tournament, submit it, and then release that same fish right into your cooler to become tasty fish tacos if you like. I kept and cooked the tagged Redfish I caught ...

Re: Who’s scalloping/fishing over the 4th of July weekend?
My son went to SM on Sunday. After getting chased around by the rain storms the total for 3 boats was about 50 little bitty scallops, that they ended up releasing so they could get big enough to eat one day. I started that day at 6:00 AM at the lighthouse ramp with 8 boats in front of me trying to l...

Re: Tournament Question: Seeking Input
I fish about 8-10 different tournaments each year. All are catch, photo & release Cotton I think you and I are in the minority here on the "let me show you my meat" forum. So yes, my suggestion is to drag the tournament into the modern technology age and quit killing the biggest...

I'll be the first one to sign up for that tournament just as soon as they go a strictly photo release format. It's done all the time nowadays using your phone which time and date stamps the photo.
Then the "big Red" would really be a big one, not just fat.

Re: Great Return On An Investment
Interesting viewpoint. I had not ever considered a fishing tournament as an investment.
I wonder if my wife would buy that? She is always after me to quit wasting money on boats and fishing and concentrate on contributing to our investments.

Re: Florida Marine Tracks
I have it on my flats skiff. Lowrance Elite 9. It's pretty darn accurate from what I can see. From St Marks to the west I would say it's not really that useful. From SM to the east it does a good job of showing some/most of the rocks and some routes to run. It's expensive but cheaper than a lower un...

Re: Trout fishing in Carrabelle FL
Hopefully you got in touch with Steve. He will steer you in the right direction. I would not set my expectations too high for this weekend. It's the full moon, not the best tide, the first weekend of Red Snapper mania, and way way too hot for comfortable all-day fishing. Try fishing East of the mout...
