I wouldn't think so - the pass on a good is usually slammed with boats and jets ski's in and out and rough as hell. There are some jetties on the southern - gulf side I see folks fishing on certain times. Chalk knows that area, maybe he will chime in. Could also be worth cruising the beech for cobia...

Yea, Aucilla is a hit and miss proposition, if your not careful. I would say that it is no more dangerous than Econfina on the same tide. Ive known Pat for years - have fished offshore with him the on the Woods N Water boat a bunch of times. Learned a ton from him. He's a good guy -just a different personality.
