We did try it Friday but struck out. Caught several short trout and 2 juvie reds. Fished in the creek mouths.
Did see several boats out on the edge of the flats but we didn't have enough daylight to try "plan B".

Thinking about taking my dad Friday to Aucilla area and will be short for time. If anyone will share info, are the fish in the creeks or on the flats. With the lack of cold, I'm wondering where to start

Re: FWC Looking for input on flounder, sheepshead, tripletai
And while I'm at it, when I was a kid (100 years ago) we could see the water turn red with the schools of reds in Taylor county waters. There's not many more boats on the water now vs. late 60s. Where did all the fish go? I don't believe the hook and line fishermen have destroyed the stock. I'm all ...

Re: FWC Looking for input on flounder, sheepshead, tripletai
I'm enjoying 2S's rant. As a S Ga redneck, all of that 100K Florida hunters must target our hunting area. They have ran our land rent from $4 to $10 per acre. I just quit hunting because every land owner said some guys from Florida will give me $10 an acre... But hey, that's the free market. They wi...

Re: Econfina super Friday....except
I feel the same way about some dive boats. Numerous times, we've been trolling grouper and a dive boat stops on our number and throws out the flag. We just have to fuss and leave.

Do what Dixie said. Keep moving until you find fish. If you haven't caught something in 10-15 minutes, move.

Re: Trolling motor mounting
Thanks reelhandy. Riptide SP is what I'm mounting and I ordered the quick release bracket today. I like your storage idea. Good info. Dumb question but does everybody keep their TM battery in the back? I have a compartment up front that I could keep the battery in but I'm wondering about rough water...

Re: Trolling motor mounting
I have a 17 ft Key Largo and it is a bow mount. Placed it on the bow to get an idea and wasn't sure which side would be best and at what angle. From what I can see, it's up to the individual.

Trolling motor mounting
Got a new trolling motor and am mounting myself. I've looked for tips on mounting so I won't do something wrong but have found nothing but junk.

Re: Bird Racks
I don't know about replacement, but a friend was there last weekend and said one rack was broken and washed several hundred yards from its location and was barely out of the water. We better be careful running out there

Re: Cobia
We used to keep a piece of 1" diameter stainless rod about a foot long to tame them. Nothing worse than a green cobia in the boat. He will tear up everything! A little persuasion between the eyes will save many dollars in damaged tackle by a flailing cobe.
