Re: Let’s talk coolers

well i used the igloo marine on my boat for years. usually got maybe 2 seasons out of one. went to bass pro to get me a new one and they had yettis on sale. the igloo marine was 160 and the yetti was 300. i said if i can get 4 seasons out of the yetti then its paid for. that was over 10 years ago an...

Re: Indian Pass

i have a bunch of girls in my family that do it. it isn't that difficult and not far at all. everyone needs a little excitement in their life. if you have the option avoid peak tidal flow.

"Alewives", please say "Alewives". Much better than "LYs" -- as in "Oh, izzat thuh real name? I done thought they was sayin LYs !" yep. they are tiny this time of year. 1/4" mesh net might get them but they are so small all they would be good for is chum.

Re: Trolling batteries

well i have tried a lot of trolling motor batteries over the years. depends on how hard you run your trolling motor. light use the odyssea are nice due to their weight. if you are killing your batteries often then weight is your friend. the best trolling motor batteries i have ever owned were deka. ...

Re: Navonics

This is incredibly helpful. My charts are showing almost 20 miles from the bird rack at St Marks to a 35 foot depth on a bearing of 160. Does that sound right? That's into federal waters, isn't it? Or am I mis-reading my charts? george oh yeah federal waters. now there are places out of st marks wi...

Re: Navonics

take a 160 degree heading from the bird rack at st marks and run till you are in 35' of water. start trolling stretch 30's east and west along that depth contour watching your bottom machine for rock piles. when you get a hit mark the spot. when you see a good rock pile stop and drop some live pinfi...

Re: How do you fish for reds??

my favorite is the bass assassin's 4" paddle tail rigged weedless with no weight. walk it through the shoreline grass or any kind of cover.

after that any of the jerk baits.

now around the bars a 1/16 oz jig head with a shrimp rigged backwards is hard to beat.

Re: Carrabelle grouper 4/28

What is the unwritten code of the sea in regards to fishing close to someone else? I'm sure everyone's standard is different. Just curious. offshore i would say a mile. bottom fishermen hate people stealing their numbers and anchoring up within shouting distance is rediculus. there is plenty of wat...

Re: How do you fish for reds??

lots of ways to catch them. much depends on the tide. they move up the creeks and into the grass on a rising tide. good time to fish the shoreline and creek mouths. know where there is spartina grass and fiddlers and you might have found a high tide tailing redfish hotspot. if you have a.shallow dra...

Re: polar skiff 1796 won't plane

I just got this skiff and do not know much about it. It is used. It has an 75 mariner 1989 model i believe. Compression is over 100 on all three cylinders. I dropped it off at my mechanic to go through the carbs. It sounds like it is running ok. It has a stainless steel prop, dont know what size. (...
