I have one and like it alot.

It doesn't seem to get in my way, I always go for it over the anchor(unless too deep) and it holds very well around here.

I have a Tna stick, basically same thing. Love it. I bought the super long one at 12ft, glad I did. Holds my 22' Cape Horn Bay boat fine.

Bought it at Cape Harbor Outfitters.

I did buy a longer rope to tie it off with.

Works great for the soft bottom we have around here. I have 2. Originally bought the 8' & later made my own 10'. Just get the 10' to start with. If you are handy you can make your own by getting a 3/4 x 10' fiberglass rod from Grainger. Make a t-handle from PVC parts & epoxy it on or you can buy a nice t-handle from Stick It for $15 (comes with epoxy). I think the rod was $35 from Grainger.

There is a few of us on FCKA.net that are going to be placing an order from this company http://www.mgs4u.com/shallow-water-boat-anchors.htm One of the members lives near there and is going to pick the order up for us on his way down in a few weeks to save on the shipping. Cant beat $16 for the pole, $10 for handle, and $10 for the tip. Most poles cost around $70+ in the stores.

Hit, I have one and like it. Why don't you borrow mine and see if you like it before you buy.

I have a 5ft one. I love mine. It is so much better than a anchor. I am going to buy a new 8ft one. I found the 5ft is nice but often wish I had a longer one. Also have been times I wanted 2.

And you call yourself a fisherman?

You won't be disappointed. I've owned two. Stick It makes a great product and they have less impact on the sea grass/bottom than an anchor.

A stake out pole is so much easier to use than a anchor. It also puts less water in the boat with you. I know for the kayak at least. The company I put above is the lowest price I have seen yet for a pole. We are going to be getting ours in October when one of the guys makes the trip down from Atlanta. Just hard to beat paying $26 for a 3/4" stake out pole

BPS and Wilderness Way has them. They run about $80+. The link above has them for a lot less. We will be getting in October if you could wait that long.
