Metal Carports??

Post by Bonecracker »

We just made an offer on a small home in Carrabelle and they accepted our offer! I am planning on leaving the boat at the Carrabelle house but will need some type of covering over the boat vs my Sunbrella cover. Was considering a metal carport type covering that I have seen and wanted to know if anyone had any recommendations or where to purchase! Got about a $3000.00 budget and needs to be big enough for my 22ft Pathfinder! I am pretty handy and hope this was something I could DIY!!
:-D Any thoughts??

For about that price you can get a nice pole barn kit. Comes w everything, tin roof, metal trusses and the poles. You just have to put it up good luck

Carolina Carports. I had them put me up a 12' x 31' with roof and 1 sheet down each side for $1900.00. It is open on both ends and open on sides from ground up to about 6'. I had the sheet put on the side to keep rain from blowing in and it helps with the dust too.

I am storing my 20' Sea Fox under mine. The 12 x 31 is more than enough room and would be good for a 22 footer.

I had an Orlando Steel "carport" installed this past spring to cover my boat, lawn mower etc. I went with a 22'x30'x10' side poles and partial wall panels at around $3,000. I had mine installed by a local dealer but their website states they are open to the public so it would seem you could just buy the materials if you prefer to do it yourself. I'll state for the record the two installers that did mine struggled with the 30' metal roof and sidewall panels so it is more like a 3 - 4 person job for a DIYer. They are a much stronger structure than some you'll see around as they use square/rectangular tubing vs. the round pipe and the system design levels the eave line rather than having it slope with the ground. The one I went with is rated for 140mph winds and is secured with ground anchors every 5' down both sides. I went with the 10' sides so I could put a boat with a T-Top under it if I ever upsize. The manufacturers website is http://oseflorida.com/carports-florida-steel-carports/

As an option, the old Carrabelle Marina is now open again with new owners - good guys from SW GA. They offer inside rack storage for a really good price and in and out service 24/7 on call. For $3000 you could keep the boat there for a long time and have it secured compared to sitting in the yard when you are gone. Just an idea you may want to check out.

The salesmen I talked to at Keenbuildings on Friday was helpful and gave me some good information on these carports! Price quoted on the 18X31 with 12ft legs was $2375.00. Got to get your deposit in early as they take a few weeks to build them. These best news was the $115.00 delivered to Carrabelle and that included putting the dang thing together!!

I just had a Carolina Carport installed over my 227 sportsman masters bay boat. I don't have a t-top so I went with the 12x26 with the 7 foot legs. No sides or end panels but I can always add those later. There is plenty of room to stand up in the boat under the carport without hitting your head. Mine cost around $1,100 with the anchors installed. So far I am very happy with it and I also did business with Keen's.
