need charter for scallop season

Post by Sir reel »

Son and his family (wife and 2 grandchildren) coming from Oklahoma last weekend of June and first week of July would like to find a charter for a 1/2 day of scallop'n. Six participants. Any recommendations for the Saint Marks area would be appreciated. Thanks

Call Capt. Mike at St. Marks Outfitters. He has the boat and the knowledge to do it right.

You might want to think about Keaton or Steinhatchee instead. The scallops are more iffy around St. Marks due to all of the fresh water entering the gulf at that area. Last year, there were hardly any found.
Its a wonderful day in the neighborhood!

Why not just rent a boat in steinhatchee?

I have not heard anything about the scallops yet. But I intend on taking my scallop gear to St Marks and checking it out a couple weeks before season. :-D

I agree! Rent a boat and look for the scallop Flotilla. Scallopers will already know where they are, all you'll have to do is find a spot.

Thanks everyone.

With respect to renting a boat, I have one they could use. However, then there's out of state saltwater licenses, purchase of snorkel gear for half a day not likely to be used again in Oklahoma, PFD's for boat travel, all 3 elements would not be required with a charter as I understand.
