Head Boat from Mexico Beach to Destin

Post by Mo Redd »

My son will be visiting in June. I was wanting to go out with him offshore. I've only been inshore fishing from the Panacea - St. Marks area, but I'd rather target deeper water closer in such as can be found west of here. Can someone recommend either a trolling or bottomfishing head boat that could be good to try?

Captain Andersons out of PC is always an option. Dont expect a catch of huge fish but they usually put you on the smaller reef fish such as vermillion snapper and triggerfish along with several other species.

I think the slowest boat (this side of china) in Destin is the Sweet Judy. American Girl and Swoop are decent. If you catch it right y'all could hook up as odds on a charter vessel if you have $$ to spend. Sometimes there is a charter "looking" for 2 or 3 more souls to join in.

Doesn't happen often but you may want to check with Half Hitch tackle to see if the USAF has closed down parts of the immediate Gulf which may limit where the vessels can fish.
