5/27 Mash Sands

Post by nobitchin »

Got on the water around 1pm. Had cigar minows, cut squid (no whole), mullet and chum. Headed to Ochlockonee light and caught pins, small jacks and a small cobia. Picked up and ran into about 30 ft and started trolling south. Lines got caught up and did not produce. Started bottom fishing in about 55 ft and hooked 4 gags (2 keepers), 2 silk snappers, 1 red snapper (threw back out of season) and a bunch of big ruby's. Fished until the sun went down. Excellent day! Will upload pics when I figure it out. Sorry. Long time lurker first time poster.

Thanks for the report. If you were in state waters ( i.e. Only legal gags are in state waters now) , then you could have kept the red snapper. They are open in state waters, but not in federal ( like gags until June 1). The regs are confusing, better safe than sorry

Yes, so right. Always err on the side of caution. Thanks
