I used the search function but just can't find much info.

Good source for live shrimp between Tallahassee and St. Mark's Lighthouse?

Gulf Coast Lumber in Woodville

Jerry's B&T in Wakulla Station

Shields Marine in St. Marks

Not sure if Shell Island in St. Marks has live shrimp or not.

JR's on Hwy 98 East if you're going to Aucilla.

Shell island usually has shrimp.. and gulf coast is not open Sunday

On the subject of live shrimp, how do you experienced guys keep em alive overnight for a trip the next day?

Bait bucket with aerator or boat live well. A long time ago we used damp sawdust that came out of the forest where there were piles of it that had been there for years. Keep it damp and cool by putting a little ice on it a few times a day. Now that's old school.

Thanks ReelBad! Sounds like a 5gal bucket and a small battery powered aerator will be the way to go. I would love to hear more about how and why the sawdust method works! My guess is that the decaying wood releases O2 into the water acting as an aerator.

Double bag ice and place in adequate water with an aerator, the cold.water slows down their metabalism and need for o2. You don't want aNY oF the ice water leaking. I've down this numerous times overnight in South Florida to get an early start the next morning.

I don't know how or why it works but I have shoveled many a pick-up truck bed full of sawdust when I was a kid to put shrimp in

We use a small cooler. Fill halfway with ice. Lay wet newspaper on top of ice and put your live shrimp on top of the newspaper. Works really good when it cooler. Shrimp will hibernate and stay fresh all day.

Lots of great info! Apparently a shrimp is like a frog. We used to put em in the freezer for a few hours as kids and when they warmed up they revived. Bbb's method seems to be the most simple and efficient way w the newspaper. Did u old school guys use the same method as w the newspaper, but sawdust instead?

I use the newspaper method, I have a old woods n water I keep in my truck I'll rip a couple pages out of when I buy shrimp. My wife calls my truck junkie she just don't know I need all that trash. Lol. Whether they are still live or not matter less than them just being firm so they stay on the hook, to me at least.

Thanks for all the help guys! I think I'm going to try the ice and newspaper method with a small container inside a bucket with ice. It would be much easier to drag around than a 5 gallon bucket full of water with a bubbler.

GCL - sorry you had to shovel a mountain of sawdust.
