Fold up crab traps?

Post by Geno67 »

Mrs. Geno and I caught some crabs with the "bait on a string" and dip net method a few weeks ago. Can you use the fold up crab traps in the canals at St. Marks and where to get one? I don't even know what they look like but have heard people talk about them on here.

I bought a few of these. I put them out in the river and the turtles chewed holes in them trying to get the bait.

I would probably buy a couple wire traps if I were you.

Mesh is similar to that of cheap laundry bags I used to employ for keeping my reds/trout/flounder alive while wadefishing. Crabs ripped through it like cotton candy. After losing an overslot trout through a big hole, I switched to industrial grade mesh bags. I think wire is the way to go for crab traps.
