I heard the same thing from a friend who was in the boat when one was caught around Aucilla.
I have not caught one since I left S. Florida but I'm ready!

There have been several snook catches in Aucilla recently and at 1 catch in East River at St Marks. I sure hope they can get up the spring fed rivers and stay for good.

Reported from the Steinhatchee river to Ochlockonee Bay. Aucilla seems to be a hot spot. I’ve been trying to keep up with it best I can. If any of you have caught one in the last week or so message me, might put your picture in the paper.

I caught 2 the same weekend as Gary. Oct 14. Been out looking for them almost every weekend since and haven’t found another. I sent you a pm with a few photos. Being alone on a kayak the pics suck. Hopefully you’ll get some better ones.

Do you think the permit will come back again? I think it's been about 4 years since I caught a big permit out of Aucilla. I guess I need to go back and look for the snookies.

What do they bite? Same as reds and trout? Where do you look for them? Anywhere?

Do you have any photos of your permit catches? That would be highly unusual.

Snook will eat topwater and suspending plugs, jigs and live baits like pilchards. I've caught my biggest ones on DOA BaitBusters and DOA shrimp in Stuart though.

Don't jump me about handling. Not me, not my vessel. An acquaintance took the pic and sent it to me asking what it was. Measured 17 inches. Was released unharmed.

Silver King, I've requested Blackshear to put up pic again. JR had a pic up in his store, but I think it's down now. We bought bait at JR's before trip and stopped by there to take a pic after.

A guy last week told me he was bouncing jigs around rocks in the Aucilla on low tide, said he caught a few. Another guy called me and said he caught one on live Shrimp under a cork in a creek in Ochlockonee Bay.

That is a stud, especially inshore. That's super rare, some caught offshore, but not inshore . Good for you
