If you have a 65qt cooler that is weight down with ice and drinks just set it on the deck when you want some elevation. No plaforms, mounts, tie downs or boat modification. Of course I’m all about simplicity, I know elevation can help at times but honestly I don’t think you will use a casting platform enough to justify cluttering your deck.

Since no one has made this argument.. I'll make it: 100% worth it to get a casting platform if you are wanting to sight fish. That's almost all we do now and we use the casting platform every trip. Added a lean bar when we were sight fishing bulls outside the islands in LA and saw my Dad's knees shaking lol. If you are wanting to do technical poling for redfish (or poons) and want the person on the bow to see the fish, worth every penny. I bought mine from a buddy who bought it at a RedTrout banquet auction I believe. Added on the lean bar later and everything was from Metal Fab. I've attached a picture of mine.
