ST. Marks 6/30

Post by FTReelty »

Headed out about 7 on Saturday, thinking we would get run in by 11:00 or so. Went east and fished toward Aucilla. Hit deep hole first, nothing, tried 4-7 feet, not much. Got really still and hot from 10-11;30-no wind or tide movement. Settled in about 8-10 foot of water and started catching a few. Water temp said 89, new penny gulp was bait of choice. Ended with 5 trout and a rock bass. Fair number of shorts and cats. back at dock by 2. Asked about scallops from locals-didn't here any good news. My 12 yrs old son did most of the catching-not a bad day!

  Good for you! Going deep is the best thing to do this time of year, the fish don't like it hot neither.

Glad you got to go. I don't like fishing deep for trout, but sometimes you have to. I need a dose of saltwater therapy, but am not sure Fourth of July weekend is the best time to scratch that itch.
