Blue fin tuna

There have been two fish on my bucket list for many years... A Blue Fin tuna and a Halibut. I can now take the Bluefin off my list. Caught a small blue fin tuna today while king fishing offshore. It put up a great fight and nearly spooled my Kast King spinner before I got him turned toward the boat. I've seen that "Wild Tuna" show on TV where they sell some of these things for over $25. a pound. This one is small but I think he'll go at least 8 or 10 pounds so should be worth at least $150 to $200. I cut his head off and iced him down like they do on the TV show but I can't decide if I want to sell it or keep it and make sushi. They judge the quality of the tuna on the Wild Tuna TV show by fat and blood content and this one had a lot of blood so it's a good quality tuna. If anyone is interested, I'll take $10. a pound.

Busted. :-D

Bluefin quota is closed and you made no mention of an HMS permit or reporting the landing. There's clear internet evidence on your hard drive so don't try to edit this thread. Fisheries law enforcement should be knocking on your door any minute.

Too bad. That fish would have been worth $100,000 if you had slapped some yellow paint on it and bet the calcutta in this week's Blue Marlin Grand Championship.

Sharing with all. #3 won the Miss Billfish title. I was rooting for 1, 6 & 7. Didn't judge this year, only an impartial observer. :P The ladies were constantly moving, so please pardon the sharpness of the images.

I am no ichthyologist (fish scientist), but the blue fin tuna looks a lot like a bonito or little tunny. Here's a link to the bonito on FWC's fish identification guide: http://myfwc.com/wildlifehabitats/profi ... tle-tunny/

Thanks but I'm pretty sure it's a juvenile blue fin tuna. :-?

Yep... # 6 should have won. I call for a run off and they can hold it at my house! :-D
