Striped Bass - Lake Talquin

I normally fish saltwater but my brother and I are gonna try out luck at striped bass on lake talquin in a few days. Anybody have any tips?

I don't fish Talquin and IMO it's a bit early and there's been too much rain but I'd suggest using live shad if you can find them or any lure or swim bait similar to shad in white or chartreuse and fishing anywhere you can find running water. The dam is probably your best bet but they hang around the mouth of creeks too. Good luck. :thumbup:

Thanks for the advice. We fished live shad and various artificials with no luck other than some large mouth and crappie. We tried just above the dam as well as up near the mouth of the Ochlockonee.

I think we are gonna give it another try later in January.

I've found a few during the winter months in the Choctawhatchee river but they show up in numbers closer to Spring. I use the dogwood blooms as an indicator it's time to go stripe fishing again. All this rain didn't doesn't help either. Hang in there... they'll be back. :D
