Coastal Conservation Association Florida's Red Tide Recovery Initiative, in partnership with the Duke Energy Mariculture Center in Crystal River, began on February 5th with the first release at Brashers Park in Pasco County. In total, there have been 17 of the adult redfish captured by anglers throughout SW Florida. The most notable catch occurred yesterday when an angler from Crystal River caught tag #013 at Mangrove Point in Citrus County. This was a fish that was released in Pasco County 66 days ago and traveled 30+ miles north. It can only be assumed he was headed back to his family at the Mariculture Center because he almost made it :-). The fish was released to be caught another day. What a cool story.
