Shell Point Kayak Launch to Fish

Planning to launch and fish for specks tomorrow at Shell Point. Not having fished this area previously, I'd appreciate any recommendations.

I don't know that there is a public launch. But there is a coast guard station on the water at the end of shell point road with some vacant lots around it.
It would be easy to throw a yak in there.

You can launch at shell point beach or there is a ramp on blue dolphin road. Good luck

Thanks, Salty... I'll try Blue Dolphin Rd next trip... Mostly short specs this trip... Chartreuse jig head with D.O.A. shad tail was most productive...

You can launch you yak at the shell point beach. There is a gate you can open so most overlook it. You can only launch kayaks, canoes, and padel boards and there is way more parking than there is on blue dolphin.

I just pull right up to the beach and launch right there..... gate? What gate? Is it new?

Good to hear the trout are starting to mill about out there.....


EDIT: oh.... do you mean a gate to back your vehicle down to the beach? That'd be awesome... I didn't know it was there!
( I've never seen any of the other FCKA guys use it either!)

A few people I know, got sores and a nasty rash from the water down there.

You could always put in at Blue Dolphin or Bottoms Rd. I just went out Blue Dolphin last Saturday. I have also launched from Shell Point beach with no problems. Just have to look out for the Big Boats.
