ST Marks NWR - 3 Dec 2017

Post by Terrier »

Fished the Lighthouse bars today - good day with strong tides, low wind. Ended up with 14 trout, most mid to upper slots. Lost a few and got cut off twice by what I think were bluefish. Also picked up a few ladyfish. Olive/chart/tan clouser on an intermediate line was the ticket today. Had one trout get cut in half by a 3' shark - Lighthouse seems a little 'sharky' of late. I fished the end of Long Bar two weeks ago (very slow day) and got approached by a 6-8 footer while waist deep.

Good for you. Fished Out of there the other day, but only got one 22 and some puffers and a "what the heck is it fish". No sharks. Fished Shell Pt today with some success. Lovely afternoon.

It's sharky there because there's food there! :o Glad you found some, even half-eaten ones.

I was out there in the big boat(probably saw me).

Was mostly about having burgers and hanging out but no luck. The fish were most certainly there but deep draft isn't something you want around the Oyster bars.
