swim dive ladder on float pods

Post by like2fish »

I have a xpress shallow water boat with the float pods and I was wondering if anyone has mounted a ladder to one. I was thinking about mounting a dive ladder to brace piece that goes from the top part of the pod to the bottom part. Any ideas and pics would be appreciated.

I had a 2 step pull down ladder on my g3 that had the two pods on the boat .I had to change with new boat since it's only got the one pod but the other was great mounted on the top pod and had velcro strap to use when pulled up

They come factory mounted on the Sea Ark float pods.

If you want to be nautically correct, they're called sponsons. :)

I'd check with the builder to see if any foam flotation would be impacted by permanently mounting a ladder and to also determine whether backing plates would be necessary.

Good luck. Ladders are handy in case someone goes overboard, intentionally or otherwise.

Thanks for the responses, here is a pic of how my power pole is mounted I was thinking about mounting a dive ladder to this location on the other sponson. If it will hold 250 lb person.Image

With that configuration you'd probably have to get one of notched mounting plates with a removable ladder. Garelick Marine Products makes some of the best, but they're pricey. You might check around with BPS, Academy and West Marine too. They're all offering spring sales for the boating season.

You might want to call Jack's in Perry. He is the one that put that power pole on the boat in 2015.

If that don't work out I may still have my old ladder that attached to the side of the boat. If I still have it I'll give it to you, I work in Tifton anyway.
