Lake Jackson 27 ramp getting updates!

Post by bman »

The county is planning a big update to the dirt ramp at Lake Jackson on Monroe st.
New ramp with a floating dock, picnic area, Bathrooms, and a pier out into the lake. They expect to be finished some time in 2016

Does it look like a double-ramp? All that looks great, should make the lake more accessible.

Doesn't look like a lot of parking, but I'm glad for the upgrade.

Yes It is a double ramp... and there is an "overflow parking area on the map that looks like it will be gravel.

Triploid grass carp work well, and they do not reproduce. The carp population "out west" are invasive asian carp that do reproduce and are a real menace to native fish.I lived in LandO'Lakes FL on a lake that was weed controlled by the tri-ploid carp, they did their job so well, that there was a scarcity of good native grasses-the FWC put too many of the carp and they worked hard-there was NO, - none,- hydrilla on that lake-but the lake next to it was so choked with hydrilla that you could walk on it.

Does anyone know if this ramp is done yet? Is the ramp next to Shuckers Oyster Bar still in use?
When you catch so many, you just stop counting.

Getting close. I count 8 parking spaces total. 3 for trailers, 4 for cars and 1 handicap. Looks like a pretty tight launch too. Guess we'll see.
