Gallons Per Hour (GPH)

Post by Juan »

Is there a way to calculate GPH if you have analog gauges and your chart plotter doesn't have a gauge page for a NMEA 2000 connection? Maybe an app that lets you enter motor specs and mileage?

Divide max power by 10 for GPH @ full throttle. For example 150hp = 15gph. Obviously crude but it usually works out.

Half throttle is going to be about half..

Not nearly what you're looking for but figured i'd mention it.

This website is pretty accurate as well.. GPH for specific engines at specific rpms. http://www.boat-fuel-economy.com/fuel-c ... calculator

Thanks. I had found that site but it must be an older site since there's no listing for a DF150 Suzuki. At this point, I think my best bet is to upgrade my chart plotter to one that displays engine data with NMEA 2000. Looking at the Lowrance HDS Carbon series.

Seems like money better spent elsewhere to me but you do seem to have a pretty rigged out boat.

This will be ballpark although your boat's probably a bit sleeker.

Thanks again. That helps and the numbers are probably very close since it's about the same length (21 '8")and same beam (8' 6"). Mine does have a slightly different hull, weighs 500 lbs less and has a smaller 54 gal. tank but I'm guessing the gph would be close.
I'm a big fan of gadgets and need to upgrade my old Lowrance Elite 7 any way and every reason I can find to do that helps convince the "boss" that I need it. :-D
