Hunting Sambar Deer on St. Vincent Island

Post by ontiltttttt »

A FWC Officer buddy of mine was telling me about the Sambar hunting on St. Vincent Island and was curious to know if anybody on here was lucky enough to ever get chosen for this? Apparently these deer are native to India but were brought to the island in the early 1900s and every year a few lucky hunters are chosen via lottery for a 3-day hunting permit.

Apparently, they're pretty common around 700lbs :o

A friend of mine was lucky enough to get his number drawn this past year. They did not get a deer but others did during the weekend. He said it was an incredible experience.
