Feb 28th Special Olympics Tourney

Post by milto »

I took this off of their Facebook page. Also for NFGFC members, Steve Hobbs will be picking up tickets on his way back into town tomorrow. If you want to fish the tournament, please contact him so he can get with you before the tournament this Saturday.

Special Olympics In-Shore Fishing Tournament
February 28th, 2015 / Coastal Taylor County
Tournament Rules
REGISTRATION & ENTRY FEE - Registration begins January 19th and ends February 28th at 9:00AM. Entry fees are $30.00 per Angler with Children 12 years of age and under free. Children wishing to enter a fish in the tournament other than a Shiner have to pay the $30.00 entry fee prior to the tournament. Entry fees are non-refundable. The only exception to this is in the event that the tournament is postponed or cancelled by the Tournament Director. There may be as many anglers per boat as Coast Guard allows. One Angler must be at least 18 years of age.
HOURS OF COMPETITION & WEIGH IN - Tournament will begin at safe daylight, as determined by the Tournament Director. Anglers may launch their boats before safe daylight, however, they must stay within 100 yards of the ramp until safe daylight. Safe daylight is defined as 30 minutes before sunrise.
Tournament conclusion time will be 5:00 p.m. The Angler must check in with the Tournament Director by this time at Sea Hag Marina @ Keaton Beach. There will be no exceptions if you are late, your catch will not count.
Each Angler may weigh one Speckled Trout and two Redfish of legal harvest size according to State law. A representative of the Law Enforcement Torch Run Committee and Florida Wildlife Conservation Commission will weigh and measure all fish. If a fish is determined to be not legal, the fish will be disqualified.
Only recreational limits may be kept during tournaments. Commercial limits are not allowed.
RULES – Each person on the boat must be entered in the contest. No non-competitors are allowed on the boat during the competition hours except for children 12 years of age and under.
In the event the tournament is cancelled due to unforeseen circumstances, it may be rescheduled for the next day.
The Law Enforcement Torch Run Committee reserves the right to make all decisions regarding the safe operation of the tournament.
Each captain is responsible for the safe operation of his or her vessel and must comply with all federal and state regulations governing such operation.
The use of alcohol during the Special Olympics In-Shore Fishing Tournament is prohibited.
Only fish taken by hook and line are eligible for weigh in. Mounted winch devices (one armed bandits), motor driven long lines, spearing, gigging, netting, shooting (including bang sticks), or any method of catching fish in violation of Florida or U.S. laws are prohibited. Use of any illegal method for catching fish will result in disqualification from the tournament.
All weights are final. Fish will not be weighed more than once.
In the event of a tie, the winnings will be spilt between the Anglers.
Anglers are allowed to use live, dead, or artificial bait considered legal by the laws of the State of Florida.
All participants must possess a valid Florida Saltwater Fishing License when applicable to Florida State Law.
All tournament participants are expected to conduct themselves in a safe, courteous and professional manner at all times. The Law Enforcement Torch Run Committee will have the final say in all conduct matters.
The Tournament Director may implement additional tournament specific rules and restrictions for individual tournaments. Entrants are responsible for understanding rules for the tournament.
There is absolutely no sharing of fish. The Angler weighing the fish must have also caught those fish. All winners are subject to a polygraph examination.
Don’t Forget the Weigh-In is at Sea Hag Marina at Keaton Beach by 5:00PM.
Prize Payouts:
$500 for largest Speckled Trout and largest legal Redfish.
$250 for 2nd largest Speckled Trout and 2nd largest legal Redfish.
$150 for Redfish with the most spots.
$1000 for Redfish/Trout Combo.

Stinson and Taylor are in. Is there a Captain's Meeting this year? I seem to remember having to attend one for this event last year.

Thanks

Should be fun. Looks like fantastic fishing conditions.

Yep. Negative low tide and 15-20 ENE winds makes for a typical tournament day.

Oh almost forgot Padgett. Nice job on the spotted red. How big was it? We caught around 2 dozen but none had any size to them.
