Goliath Grouper

Post by randymullaly »

Launched out of Carrabelle yesterday. Fog was so thick I could barely see the bow of the boat. Finally made it to 40' of water and dropped anchor. Snapper bite was crazy all day. Quit counting at 15. Nice size fish caught and released. Hung into what felt like a submarine. Long story short………Goliath grouper. Took about 45 minutes to finally get him boat side for the release. About 5' and estimating 200lbs plus. Ive lost a ton of bottom rigs to these guys but this is the first one Ive been able to put my hands on! Great time yesterday but sore all over today. A very good problem to have!

I bet it was fun to catch a fish that big. Maybe once in a lifetime.
