St George Island bridge fishig report 8/26/16

We went to the old St George Island bridge Friday and arrived at 5pm.

Light breeze, not very hot, waters where calm, murky but not rust colored.
High tide was suppose to be at 7:40pm.

Within 30 minutes of setup I hit with a 3 foot bonnet head shark.
15 minutes later my first big hit, a 35 inch Bull Black Drum.
10 minutes after that another one but he broke my line.
30 minutes after that two very large sting rays.
After about 10 pm it was trout, catfish, croakers and more catfish.
Headed home after 11pm.

I used frozen shrimp and squid but they mainly where after the squid.

Last time I was here my lines kept breaking (65 lbs Power Pro braid). I read about shock leaders and started using them.
They helped me a lot with the Bull Black drums.
I plan to setup all my reels with a shock leader!

Good report, glad they bit in the cooler time of day. That power pro shouldn't break like that, I had some on a reel of my Dad's that broke a lot and it was too old. I replaced it with 15 lb. mono and did much better.

The Power Pro has been on the reel for about 2 years.
I do not now how often to change it.

I use 30 and 40lb Power Braid. Been on my rods for 5 years without an issue.
Maybe also try loosening the drag a bit.
There is absolutely no stretch in this type of line.

Well over 40 inches way up a river near Carrabelle a couple of months back.
Never seen this size before up a river.
