wow what a day!
Launched at Rock Landing heading out to the Hole. Just after sunrise using shrimp and cut pinfish. Dropped the anchor and the fun started. Within 3 hours and not moving an inch we got 22 slot reds, 3 shorts and a huge ray. water 4', temp 85 rising tide. Looks like fall might have started. Day before we fished off the big sandbar and caught mackeral in the feeding frenzies.

Re: wow what a day!
Pretty work.
Talked to the Wakulla County Parks Dept. and the new ramp at Shell Point is finally open! Wahoo. Very nice facility with protected ramp and ample parking. Also a good starting point to target some less-pressured water.
Plan to give it a try tomorrow and probably again Friday. These fall conditions with Saturday's new moon tides are just too good to pass up. Fortunately I can chalk it all up to "research."

Why would you use the boat ramp when you can go across the street and launch from the beach like most others out there do already ?Can'tCatchAnything wrote:Oooh gotta try the Shell Point ramp and launch the kayak there sometime.

Hah, good point (No pun intended)
Re: wow what a day!
Silverking, how about taking some pictures of the new ramp. Also, do you have an address for it to plug into gps?
Its a wonderful day in the neighborhood!
Re: wow what a day!
That ramp looks very nice. Hard to tell from the video if there will be room to load and unload without partially blocking the way of others. Hope so....it's a great looking new facility.

Plenty of room out here to load and unload.
Though I'm sure 80% will use this area.

It was a long time coming and it seemed to take forever to finish. But now that it's done, I've got to tip my hat to the Wakulla County Commission and the crews that worked on this new facility. It's very, very nice. Just hope folks don't abuse it. MudDucker, it's located at the corner of Shell Point Road and Beaty Taff Drive. Honor box for the fee or you can buy an annual pass that's good for all the Wakulla County ramps.
Launched there today. Here are some photos. By the way, the Spaniards are everywhere and the trout were hungry for both topwater and suspending plugs in gold and chrome. Water temp was 80.6 degrees this am. Still some floating grass but not too bad. Little red tint to the water but visibility was good to about 4+ feet where I caught my fish.
