Apalach 4/16 & 4/17

Post by Cover2 »

Any updates on inshore fishing around Apalachicola? Heading down on Sunday with plans on fishing Monday and Tuesday. Could end up anywhere between Carrabelle and PSJ depending on what the wind is doing. Thanks.

It was slow the first week of April at the beginning of the week but did pick up toward the end of the week with mostly small fish. Then rain came in and kept us on shore. We also had really flat tides during the day which didn't help either. It should be picking up if the weather will settle down a little

The wind was horrible on Monday. Decided to put in at the state park at CSB to avoid it as best we could. Held our own for a couple of hours; picked up a few flounder on jigs. By lunch it was so bad we decided to call it. We regrouped on Tuesday and decided to fish on a friend's boat over in Carrabelle. Started out at the Lanark reef and only picked up a couple of ladyfish. Trolled gulf side of Dog island and managed a few Spanish. Boats were stacked up around the western end of Dog island fishing for pompano. We tried for a short time but did not catch any.

Despite only catching a few, we always enjoy the time down on the forgotten coast. Tight lines.

The March wind has carried over to April this year. By now it usually is shaping up real good. I postponed a trip to SGI this week for that very reason.
