First trip of '12

Post by onefishtwofish »

I have been hitting the ducks pretty hard all fall and winter and it was time for a fishing trip. After a little boat fixin (sat up all winter, last trip was October), we were on the water by about 12:30. MY thermometer on the fish finder was malfunctioning, so no idea the temp. As the tide went to full high we started picking up trout. They were all nice size fish and were HUNGRY, been waiting on me since October I guess. We did not catch a lot, but they were all nice size. Smallest 16.5, biggest 23. The reds finally started getting cranked up. Nephew lost one due to a line snap at the boat (trim tab) and I had two spit the hook - all three were keepers, his may have been over. Felt like rookies, but I guess I warm up at the skeet range for ducks, so we'll count this as a practice day. Caught three keeper reds, one rat, 6 trout.
This was the nice one. I have caught bigger trout, but this one fought better than any I have ever caught. Thought it was a small red at first. Picture shy I reckon.

Even though today was a keeper day, this one had to swim away.

Ended up with a nice mess. Gonna try making fish jerky with the trout. The reds are destined for the cast iron skillet.

They were hungry for sure and we had a lot of baitfish action too for February/.
Ducks, turkeys, flats fishing. Who has time for golf?

Nice day of fishing, looks like the warm weather has the flowers blooming a bit early this year.

No! no! I've seen that before. It is part of a time travel portal. A manifestation of the space time continuum. You can't see it with the naked eye. It only shows up in photographs.

OnefishTwofish are you still with us?

Anyway, nice mess of fish!

Think the time travel portal allowed him to fish with George Seurat and Van Gogh. Joking aside, Onefishtwofish, nice report!

Hey, how did all that rainbow stuff get on there? Hmmmm, weird. Thanks ya'll. The calender may say winter, but the fish said spring.
