St Marks NWR open or closed?
Anybody know if the gate at St Marks NWR will be open or closed during the govt shutdown??

According to Friends of St Marks facebook page it will be open:
The Washington Post is reporting that the Senate has been sent home and will not return before Thursday, 12/27. Government shutdown will remain in effect until at least then and probably longer. At St. Marks NWR, the Visitor Center will be open only on Sunday, 12/23. Hurry in an shop at the Nature Store please.
Beginning Monday and continuing for the duration of the shutdown, the public areas of Refuge will remain open during during normal hours (daylight only) except for those trails marked as closed. All buildings will be closed and there will be no access to restrooms, water or staff available to answer questions. The Refuge Manager and Law Enforcement Officers, who are exempt essential employees, will be working. Other employees will be furloughed. That means no pay! The toll booth will be open (staff there are paid from fees) but will only accept cash or checks. Please plan accordingly.
We all look forward to the mess being resolved very soon!
