St Marks 9-15 "Humberto"

Post by Srbenda »

We hit the water around 930am on Saturday, facing a stiff breeze that was being fed by TS Humberto.

We started on the west flats, with really poor water visibility, but lower temperatures than we've been seeing. Water temps ranged from 81 to 85 during the day.

Fishing was very, very slow. We boated a number of short trout, but I believe the water conditions made it tough for them to see our baits. We moved to the east flats, where water visibility was far better, but we hit it at slack tide, and missed our opportunity.

We did end up with a monster sailcat for dinner, but otherwise nothing to keep.

I'm expecting next weekend the water temps will have continued to improve, and hopefully the fishing will follow...

Same here. One nice keeper trout drifting (fast!) by the lighthouse bar, plus some shorts, a few catfish, and a 3-4 foot shark.
Hope the winds calm down and the waters cool.
