Sportdog underground fence ???

Post by flatbrokeI »

Wanting to install underground fencing around 4 acres, does anyone have any recommendations for either the Sportdog 100 or Extreme Fencing systems? Good or bad

Had a friend that was having problems with his lab running off and got the sportdog about 5 years ago. Never had a problem with it after the first week and added a new dog a couple months back and ran off first day. After we got to looking the whole front part of the wiring was gone and the best he could remember was from the county working out in front of his house early last year pulled it up lol. No problems after we laid new wire.

Those things work unless your dog is very smart. I knew of a German Shepard that learned to get close enough to the wire to make his collar start beeping the quick warning signal. He would then lay down until the collar quit when the batteries ran down. After that he was free to go.

Or really dumb. :-D My sister's Jack Russells will back up near the house to get a running start. They'll yelp when they hit the fence and keep on truckin'. :-D
