Lanark Lady Calling for Closure of Boat Ramps

There is a nutty lady on the Lanark facebook page calling for closure of boat ramps after the beaches were closed. She posted up what is happening in Miami. Really???? That ramp was my gateway to the ultimate social distancing. When I objected, she then thought she had the right to tell me not to come to the area because I'm not a Florida resident. i was not very nice in my reply!

I suspect that FL will be closing all state parks, and ramps with that.
How closely will it be enforced?

State parks are already closed.

In South Florida, the state owns the majority of ramps (unlike cities up here). I am expecting a Stay-At-Home order to come across within the next 72hrs from the Gov; effectively shutting everything down.

Lame AF, but I get it.

Closing boat ramps seems over the top to me.

I could almost see closing the beach due to Spring Breakers disregard for us old folks, but the boat ramp too?

Better put your boat in and borrow a friend's dock MD.

I saw a smaller scale sandbar party up the wakulla river last weekend. Seems like a time to set your own anchor if you want to go swimming/partying rather than raft 4 or 5 boats up.. Looks bad.

There's been pics floating around facebook of local sandbar's/rivers behaving very similar to miami was.

The ramp at Lanark wasn't crowded. The ramp on the Wakulla river at 98 looked like scalloping season, but as a rule, folks are not gathering and milling around at ramps.

I've seen quite a few gather on the sandbar at the mouth of the St. Marks, but this is overkill. Post the sandbars and have marine patrol disperse them. However, we all know that if young people want to, they are going to find a way to gather.

As a whole, I can't think of a better way to pass time and avoid the virus than in a boat in the sunshine. Studies have indicated that the increased vitamin D production caused by our exposure to sun could keep virus at bay.

I'm back at work, but if necessary, I will find a place to launch.

All the ramps in Carrabelle are open.
