Lake Jackson 8/3/13

Post by Poopong McPlop »

We put in real early at 6am, the sun hadnt quite risen when we arrived but it was about to be morning really soon. The water at Crowder was in the high 70s to start the day and still turbid. For the first couple of hours we fished the inside and outside of the pads with no luck for the first couple of hours. The fish came in to feed around 8:30am and we caught about 12 BG and shellcrackers. We hard worked about 1 mile of lily pads that were facing openwater. We fished just outside the pads, about 30ft outside of the pads, and inside nooks and points in the pads to catch our fish. There were 2 boats out that were anchored in gator holes deep in the pads and they didnt do too well before heading in at noon. It was very sunny most of the day and we didnt get any bites fishing deep open water during the day. So we took time to explore the rest of the lake, (Lime sink, Millers landing area, US27 area, boat trails etc) before heading in around 6pm. We ended up keeping close to 10 shell crackers and BG on the day. They were all between 7.5-9" The fish were supposed to come in to feed at 8:30pm but we didnt hang around to find out with a dark dark cloud looming over the lake. Another hot day at Lake Jackson
