Wacissa River 9-29-2013

Post by CoastalPirate »

Wow! I haven't been to this river in almost 10 years and I didn't catch anything, BUT it was totally worth it! The clear water, the wildlife, the serenity. A true Florida experience. On to the report! Hit the water around 7 am. Air temp low 70s. Water temp was pretty darn cold. After looking at past posts I tried my hand at panfishing. Tried a beetle spin with a chartreuse grub. No luck. Bass fishing...nada. What's hilarious is that I can multi task at work with all this new technology but I can't bass fish and panfish at the same time! Does anyone else have this problem? We got off the water at 11. My friend, who took his yak caught two bass under a pound; both caught on a watermelon flake fluke. Photo below. Forgot how close this place is to Tallahassee and man, I don't have to drive 40 min. to try and catch mullet there is a ton if them at Wacissa! All in all a great day!
Rastus taking a break; enjoying his new yak.

I heard to take white side meat and make strips with it for bait. From a local. All fish there will eat it.
