Bream Fishing with the kids...

Post by bman »

The girls, ages 2 and 3.5, have been asking to go fishing with daddy.
So this morning we had breakfast and then went to the neighborhood pond.
Caught about a dozen. They had fun looking at the fish in a bucket and then throwing them back in the lake.
Stayed about 30 min and left them wanting more.

Hey now. They seem to have the right stuff.
To fish, or not to fish, . . . those are the answers.

I caught a lot as a kid... this is in the neighborhood I grew up in.
My biggest was about 8lbs on a topwater lure I carved from a broom handle ;-)

Broom handle? Now, that's creative. I hope you did not get into too much trouble over carving your mother's broom handle!

You'll go down as "The Best Dad in the World"! You're doing it right, teaching those girls how to fish.

Thanks for the pictures and story.

Perfect parenting (and fishing!). The trick that worked on me was river fishing. For some reason that we all know now (aka I didn't know back then) it was REALLY FREAKING HARD to catch those river bream unlike those pond bream. Meanwhile my folks who knew what they were doing caught the river bream just fine. The challenge hooked me, plus that fact that the river bream looked cooler.
