I've actually never heard of that... I usually will immediately dump the bail to remove the tension which slows / stops the run or make a hard turn on the angle to turn the fish. Otherwise I just tighten that drag, lock it down, and show that fish who is boss while yelling "BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOM!!!!!" :lol: :lol:

I'll bring out an older reel next time and see if I can find something to get close to spooling it and give this a shot; interesting theory.

I've heard of taking all the pressure off but have lost fish when they can get slack line. Give it a try and tell me how it worked for you. salute1
