Stiff nylon rope

Post by KarstRanger »

You folks know any way to soften up nylon rope that is stiff? What I have currently is 1/2 in. white nylon. It is not bad when it is wet, but dry, it is almost too stiff to use it to tie up to the dock. ps - maybe I am dreaming and I just need to replace it, but I thought I would ask... :)

Put it in a 5 gallon bucket with some water and some laundry fabric softener. It works well for cast nets so it should work for the rope.

Sorry KarstRanger, I fought the urge to post that as long as I could.
Try the fabric softner, should work.

Thanks guys, I knew I was asking for it :smt005 when I asked this type of question... I probably should have posted it in "Off Topic" and the floodgates of humor would have really opened on me ! But seriously, I am worried that the softener scent will come off while trolling in the river and slow down the bite... :-D

p.s. I'll try the fabric softener and let youall know how it works. KR

I tried soaking that 1/2 in. nylon line in laundry softener for a couple of days. But, :smt010 it really didn't help. I guess I will just have to spring a whole $10 and buy some new line. Thanks for the suggestions :-)
