Trout and Reds in the river? What time of year?

Its been awhile but I remember catching some trout in the st marks river(upriver) and was curious when they head up that way.

That being said does it hold any fish during the summer?

How about the creeks about halfway down from the fort?

With the weather these past couple days I don't really want to venture too far from home base as I usually just fish the flats.

The trout and reds move into the river in the winter. The water temp has to drop on the flats to send them up river. I don't know what the magic temperature is that sends them up, but it usually doesn't happen until some time in December. Your best bet this time of year is to go to deeper water on the flats and fish slow.

They will start "staging" in October and November. You'll find them out around the mouth of rivers and creeks getting fat for the winter.

when it is too cold to fish, hit the rivers and creeks. The colder the better.

I HAVE HAD ICE DRIP OFF OF MY ROD TIP MANY TIMES IN THE RIVER FROM THE POWER PLANT OUT TO THE MOUTH IN THE WINTER.

No point going very far up creeks or rivers, but fish feed on all of those near the gulf at this time of the year depending on the salinity.
