Keaton 8/23

Post by flatsbroke22 »

Left Motown around 6:00 this morning with two others with plans of doing a little fishing first thing then moving in to do some scalloping. Got to the ramp at 8:00 to a surprising minimum crowd. Ran north and in close to try and find a red while the tide was up. Lots of mullet and bait around but no reds. Headed out to 6-8 foot to trout fish until it was too hot. Managed one nice 25" trout on cut pinfish. Figured the scallop crowd would be slimmer since it was sunday and most schools were back in but that was not the case. We got our three man limit in about four hours. Had to move around a bit before we finally found the mother load after we decided to get away from the crowd.

The line was pretty bad yesterday, I actually put in at dark island instead, don't know if I'll do that again. Surprised it took you that long for the scallops, we got our 4 gallon limit in just over an hour.

I believe the first couple spots had been picked over pretty good. Our last stop yielded 3 gallons in less than 30 min.
