Talquin WMA

Post by CoastalPirate »

What are your guys' thoughts on hunting squirrel in this area? I'm planning on taking my son (7 year old) on his first hunting trip in January and am currently seeking out areas. If this isn't a good area near Tallahassee are there any others you guys could recommend?

Never hunted Talquin but Aucilla was always my favorite area growing up.

Talquin should be good. Ochlockonee River WMA is nearby as well & is easy to walk but is limited to Fri, Sat, & Sunday I think. Also, the Appalachicola National Forest along the river bottom of the Ocholocknee River.

Thanks again guys for the advice. I've printed out 2 brochures for Ochlockonee and Talquin WMAs and surprised the little guy tonight about hunting. Just have to get permits and license and the waiting begins!
