What to do with an old gps

Post by rocket »

I've got an old Garmin 176c that is certainly dated, but still functional. What have you guys dip one with your older units? It seems Garmin no longer supports these units and they can't be updated.

I upgraded from that same unit to a much bigger Humminbird, but instead of getting rid of it I bought a RAM mount and attached the unit to the side of the Humminbird bracket. I figured old charts, tracks and bottom readings were better than none if the Humminbird were to fail at a bad time. Also it allows me to have the Humminbird on full screen sonar, and have GPS on the Garmin. It wasn't worth much for anything else, but for that it's useful.
