Yesterday catch

Post by eightwt »

Fished yesterday for first time since the storm. Started about an hour before high and picked up a fat 24 ladyfish that burned my finger with a couple of strong runs into the backing. Next was a nice trout. Tide slacked and action quit. After the turn, picked up 4 more trout in about half an hour plus a few released and a couple long line releases. Water clarity was pretty decent. Was using a baitfish pattern.

Well done. I fished the Saturday morning rising tide and was impressed by the water clarity. Found a few fish too.

Lady fish = poor mans tarpon. Never a dull second with one on the hook! Well done! Where'd you go?

Ladyfish make excellent cut bait.

Yes ladyfish are a hoot. Kinda have it all other than culinary qualities. Acrobatic, aggressive, plentiful, and readily take a fly. Was fishing wakulla area.

Fished St George east end yesterday. Only a few baby crevelle jack and small ladyfish. Didn't see the bait guys pull anything. Water clarity was good though. Lots of shells from high water. Was one of those 3 tides day.

We need that first cold front to kick things off - it's just been too hot.

53 this AM. Hope this is the front you were speaking would cool the water and heat up the action. Managed a couple slot trout Monday, but was slow.
